About

About Me

Hello I’m Fiona and I am a qualified Counsellor and Psychotherapist, fully accredited by the Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP). I am based in Waterford City and see adults and teenagers face to face from my office and also offer online services to adults and older teens. I work with adults and teens using an approach which can be adapted to the individual needs of the person. You can read more about the type of modality I use under the services tab.

Background

Prior to entering the field of counselling and psychotherapy I worked in the area of social care for over ten years. During this time my work encompassed working with children and adolescents who had experienced trauma and attachment issues as well as their families, adults with chronic and enduring mental health issues, people at risk of homelessness, and people living with cancer and their families. During my training in Counselling and Psychotherapy I completed placement working with survivors of domestic abuse.

I have been working full time in private practice since 2022, working with clients with a range of different presenting issues. Common reasons people may seek counselling and psychotherapy include: anxiety, depression, low moods, feeling stuck, relationship difficulties, recovering from trauma or any number of other issues.

I am most passionate about working with highly sensitive teens and adults who have had struggles in their relationships. My aim is to help you to understand yourself better so that you can make changes if you choose to.

I enjoy working with people from all walks of life and I work to provide a safe space that is LGBTQ+ affirming, Autisim affirming, and pro-choice. You don't need to worry about being "too much" or "not enough" when you meet me, because I accept you exactly as you are. I will never shame you for being who you are because I want to help you to be more you.

Please get in touch through the contact page today to arrange a no commitment, free, consultation call so that we can have a chat to make sure I am the right therapist for you or your child.
